Matthew 22: 1-14 22: 1
He answered Messiah and returned them to talk in parables, saying: 22: 2 The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepares a feast of marriage for his son; 22: 3 and sent his servants to summon the visitors to the nuptials ; however they did not want to come. 22: 4 Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell those invited: I here , I have prepared my bread; my bulls and fattened animals are killed, and everything is ready; come to nuptials . 22: 5 But they went without making an event, one to your patio and the other to your business; 22: 6 and others took the subjects , desecrated and killed them. 22: 7 Hearing this, the king was angry; and he sent his armies, destroyed these murderers and burned their city. 22: 8 And he said to his subjects : Truly the union is specific ; however the visitors were not worthy. 22: 9 So go outside and invite as many as you can to the wedding ceremony. 22:10 And the servants went out to the tracks and gathered everything they found, complacent and malicious ; and the bonds they were full of visitors . 22:11 And the king went in to appreciate the guests, and he saw there a man who was not clothed for unions . 22:12 And he said to him: Friend, how did you get in here without putting on a wedding garment ? But he was silent. 22:13 Then the king said to those who served, Shackle his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness ; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 22:14 For abundant are called but few are chosen .
Reflection:
The parable of the wedding feast is about God’s call to be part of the kingdom of heaven for everyone who hears the word of the Lord, by preaching the gospel, whether through a study partner, work, neighbor or a person. on a bus or in a park and the consequences that come if the call is rejected. It is God who calls many whom we need to enjoy the great banquet he has prepared for those who love him. Many reject it, but others are joyfully called to follow Jesus Christ for the rest of their earthly lives.
Now that we have seen the aspects of the parable in context, Jesus spoke to the chief priests and elders of the people, but we can also apply them in our day, because the Lord wants everyone to come to the banquet He has prepared. in heaven, but the many professions or distractions in the world make it difficult to follow Jesus, because we may think that if we go to church on Sundays and confess my sins, God will forgive me and I will continue my life. Ordinary Monday. We believe that we are on the right track but we are wrong, because when God calls us to be part of his kingdom, he makes us his disciples, his servants, to preach the gospel of Christ, about what may be happening. in our lives. See that all those who did not want to go to the banquet were destroyed, that is, those who rejected the word of God, but those who, if they wanted to go to the banquet, also had to go, they had to have a wedding. clothed, it is not enough to have the good intention, without having the new garment (verses 11 and 12), as expressed in Galatians 3: 26-27 “because you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus; because all of you who have been baptized into Christ are clothed in Christ “and Colossians 3: 10-12” and clothed in the new, which according to the image of the One who created it is renewed until full knowledge, where it is. Greek or Jew, circumcision or circumcision, barbarian or Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is everything and in everyone. Then dress as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, with tender mercy, kindness, humility, humility, patience ”. And remember: ” For many are called and few are chosen “, even in 2 Corinthians 5:19” So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things passed away; and continue to do the same things as before, immersed in sin, is to be at the wedding party without the wedding dress, do not be fooled, Romans 6:16 Do you obey, either the sin that leads to death or the obedience to justice? “
This parable has many similarities to the parable of the great fellowship in Luke 14: 15-24.
Good advice: read Luke 14: 15-24
