The tenth commandment focuses on the attitude of our heart and what is happening deep within us. Desire is longing for something that belongs to someone else. By asking, we show dissatisfaction with what God has given us in life. Instead of thanking him for his blessings and goodness, we compare ourselves to others and criticize what God has given us. Very sad!
We see that this commandment unites the other nine: dissatisfaction with what God has given me makes me want to have what belongs to others. Therefore, we must strive to fill our hearts with gratitude and satisfaction for all that God has given us. As we focus on His goodness and His love, on the salvation He has given us, there will be no room in our hearts for discontent.
It can seem difficult to keep the Ten Commandments all the time. However, it does not depend on our effort but on how satisfied we are with the love of God and the Holy Spirit. The more we fill ourselves with it, the more we want to please and obey it. Spend time with God every day, place your burdens and battles before Him and He will give you the strength to remain faithful and glorify Him in everything you do, feel and think.
