What is a Christian Leader

We know that a leader is a person that people respect and follow because he knows how to motivate them and get them to do the right thing for the purpose he pursues, as well as for themselves.

But how is Christian leadership different from “ordinary” leadership? This question is the one that I am trying to solve in this article.

What does it mean to be a good Christian?

This question is difficult to answer, I ask the reader for understanding and openness to read what I will write next, because I am in a position where it is easier to judge than to understand.

Being a good Christian consists in my experience and in the sufficient knowledge that I have of this religion, in loving God above all and our neighbor as ourselves. But what does this mean?

It means, first of all, that I must have a loving, close and branching relationship with God. Consider him my father and Christ my brother. A brother that I have to see reflected in each and every one of the people I “meet”.

Second, it means that I am true to what your child says. That I follow his teachings and put them into practice strengthens my faith and my spirituality through the means that he left us.

In conclusion, a good Christian consists of practicing justice and charity with the people around us.

Qualities and virtues of a Christian leader

A Christian leader must remember that the people he leads are goals in themselves and not means that can be used and then discarded.

The purpose of this type of leader should be service and not the use of the people responsible for it. Teaching and not punishment, forgiveness and not revenge.

Of course, this type of leadership is not easy to exercise. Benefits such as patience, perseverance and perseverance are required. It is necessary to build character so as not to give in to selfishness and the simple path, the path of which is paved by pride, corruption, and authoritarianism.

Patience is necessary, because man is a fallible being and changes often occur over time. A moment in which it is necessary to wait, to see the fruits of the actions we carry out and which at first seem impossible to achieve.

Consistency is necessary because we must be merciful and charitable over and over again. Our way of living Christianity cannot be due to the humor with which I woke up today; It must be based on an exercise of good works, repeating them over and over again until we assimilate them.

Strength is necessary to not give in and stand firm against the seductions of the world: selfishness, relativism and consumerism. Thinking about serving others, rather than helping them grow and develop as human beings, is one of the greatest temptations for leaders who want to follow Christian principles in their lives and ways of exercising leadership.

Reflection for Christian leaders

I urge men and women who are leaders to reflect on the kind of leadership they exercise in their lives, in their families, and in their work.

Ask yourself:

Am I the leader of my own person?
Do I forgive myself when I make mistakes?
Do I serve the people under my direction or do I serve them?
Am I humble in accepting the mistakes that my subordinates point out to me?
Am I merciful to my subordinates? Or I have no patience with them and I constantly oppress and humiliate them in front of other people.
